Relaxing with Luna

Saturdays are my favorite days because I spend them alone with my cat. I am so grateful that I can spend time relaxing with my cat, Luna.

Anime

I stumbled upon manga and anime when I was 11-years-old. As a kid, I loved Please Twin, Please Teacher, Naturo, Inuyasha, Special A, Oran Highschool Host Club, Fruits Basket, Sailor Moon, and Crimson Hero. I was and still am an anime nerd!

So most evenings and Saturdays you can find me cuddling with my cat watching more anime. My cousin recently got me into My Hero Academia and my bestie recommended Food Wars. So, the hobby of watching anime I found so early in life continues.

Crocheting

Usually, I give the gift of homemade crocheted blankets. I find time to make these blankets when I am relaxing while watching TV. I taught myself to knit and crochet when I was 12. So now, 14 years later I can do it without looking at my hands, and it’s very relaxing.

My cat developed a funny habit of using my yarn ball as a pillow while I make gifts for the family. She’s a cutie!

Math

About once a week I get bored with unchallenging activities in my spare time. So, I reach towards the Sudoku. That usually keeps me happy. But about every three years, I rebuy all the 1-12 grade math books from Spectrum and retake basic math.

Why?!? Well, if you don’t use it you lose it and I don’t use math in my profession.

As a lawyer, my hourly rate is set and all I have to do is keep track of my billable hours. Not mathematically challenging at all. So, when I get the itch to encounter problems with only one correct answer (unlike life and my client’s cases) I reach for math. Currently, I am multiplying and dividing fractions.

Not the most fun way to spend an evening, but it keeps me sharp.

Journaling

As someone who has always loved school, it comes as no surprise that I like writing. For example, I have a shelf in one of my bookcases filled with journals and published poetry books. So, when I get bored or extra emotional, I write. Most of my thoughts never make it into a public form, however.

About ninety percent of my writing has only one audience, me. I’m a journal addict. It started when I was 17-years-old and continues today. As an INTJ-A 3w4, feelings aren’t my forte. But, activities like writing help me process what’s going on with me and it’s very cathartic.

So, on my down days or after dinner I can often be found sipping herbal tea, covered in a fluffy seafoam blanket, wearing lavender slippers, while journaling with gel pens. And of course, Luna is right by my side because black cats are the best soul mates.

I hope you enjoyed this post about my Saturday hobbies which I share with Luna!
