How to Get Over Divorce Due to Infidelity

Alicia Decker is a survivor-to-thriver, a brilliant intellectual, a business owner, and a dedicated mother. I respect her greatly. Her videos were very helpful while I was in the middle of a divorce during my third trimester with my first child. The divorce was caused by my husband’s year-long infidelity, lack of remorse for the multiple affairs, and his abandonment of the family.

Processing emotions like betrayal trauma and abandonment trauma is never easy. It is especially challenging for someone who is action and success-oriented. So, slowing down, being vulnerable, and allowing the feelings of grief were the hardest parts for me. I appreciated finding another rare type of female who talked about her experience with divorce and infidelity.

She felt like a kindred spirit, even down to us both graduating with our bachelor's degrees at 19-years-old. In the personality test, she and her husband created, she is a thinker/closer. I am a closer/thinker. It’s lonely at the top, and often, the traits of highly successful people are extra intimidating in women. So, it was an unexpected blessing to find her work during one of the hardest times of my life. I am grateful she shared her experiences and helped create Mended Light.
